Epson Artisan 835 Review
Design
The 25.8 x 18.3 x 7.8-inch Epson Artisan 835 is one sharp-looking printer. The 24.9-pound machine is dressed up in an office-appropriate blend of shiny and matte black surface areas accented with the silver cut.
The front face has a 7.8-inch touch display that tilts 45 levels upward to face the user, together with a collection of equipment switches such as an open key to lowering the show, an on/off switch, and an eject switch for the CD tray (hidden inside the printed). You will also find several sd card ports and a 30-sheet printed.
At the very bottom of the Artisan 835 is a matte black plastic tab that can be pulled to expose the 120-sheet cassette tray for routine paper and a 20-sheet tray for unique picture paper or envelopes.
Lastly, the top of the Artisan 835 inclines with dignity from the left side to the right, which flips available to expose a 30-sheet auto document feeder tray for checks and faxes. A detachable duplexer gets on the behind of the printer. Ethernet also has a USB port, two telephone line jacks, and a power connector on the back.
Configuration
Establishing the Epson Artisan 835 was simple. We connected to the printer, browsed the configuration food selection, and selected “Set Up Wizard” under Cordless LAN configuration. After going into our workplace network’s cordless password, we installed the software on our notepad. We responded to a couple of questions regarding an Ethernet, USB, or Wi-Fi printer link (since no USB cable consists of, we chose the Wi-Fi option). We were working in much less compared to 5 mins.
PrintJinni and Epson iPrint
The Artisan 835 All-in-One works with two free iOS Epson applications: Epson iPrint and PrintJinni. (Sorry, no Android support in the meantime.) iPrint works over Wi-Fi to publish pictures kept in an iPad or iPhone’s gallery, and PrintJinni prints Word docs, PDFs, spreadsheets, and various other files connected to email messages.
While they offer more functionality than various other printers’ iOS applications, most of which just let you publish pictures, we wish Epson would certainly integrate these applications right into one.
PrintJinni looks for email accessories that were sent out in between the present and a defined previous day. Finding the correct file can be challenging; a finishing day can’t be limited, so it takes a very long time to appear for accessories. Searching 3 months of messages uncovered a listing of 3,071 photos and documents, and it took PrintJinni 22 mins to complete the browse.
However, once files are downloaded and install, they are conveniently kept within the application under Downloaded and install Files. PrintJinni can also publish internet web pages, but the URL must be duplicated and pasted from the browser.
Since there is no chance to publish a panel or a clip of the websites, the whole size of the website is published as a lengthy PDF, which isn’t very pleasant to appear at the same time published.

However, PrintJinni offers a variety of publishing options, something many printer applications lack. Up to 9 duplicates of a file or picture can be published in Letter, A4, or A5 paper dimensions. Picture orientation can’t be changed within the application, but photographs can be published in the A4 paper dimension or 3.5 x 5, 4 x 6, 5 x 7, or 8.5 x 11-inch dimensions.
Other Printer: Epson WorkForce WF-3620
iPrint is a lot more limited compared to PrintJinni. It just prints photos kept in the iOS gallery and the publish options are limited to a bordered or indeterminate 4 x 6, 5 x 7, letter, or A4 paper dimension, which you can choose in the application.

Publish rates over USB were much faster with the exemption of the Word document, which finished in a slower 38 secs. The PDF was completed in 35, and the top quality picture in a fast 1:11, the fastest picture speed of any printer over any link.
Using the PrintJinni application on our iPod touch, the Epson finished a 4 x 6 publish in 27 secs, much faster compared to the Kodak ESP C310 (39 secs) and the Canon Pixma MG6120 (35 secs) and much better compared to the HP Photosmart (1:05 using AirPrint). The Epson Artisan 835 finished publishing a Word document via PrintJinni in 36 seconds and a PDF in 43 seconds. Epson’s iPrint application was equally fast, posting a 4 x 6 picture in 27 secs.
Picture and Document Quality
Built right into the Artisan 835 is picture adjustment software that assesses color and illumination information and corrects the pictures immediately. Many thanks to that feature, this printer offered the best picture quality amongst the all-in-ones we’ve recently evaluated. Our vision looked equally bright as our resource picture, with excellent foreground information, all-natural complexion, and excellent saturation and color.
Sadly, our PDF didn’t change appearance outstanding. Photos of a line of note pads and computer system monitors in our PDF looked loud and digital; text had not been sharp, either. Text appeared more grey compared to black and had a somewhat hazy quality. The same went for Word documents; font styles seemed to be fuzzy after shut evaluation.
