Canon PIXMA MX882
The Canon Pixma MX882 is among many colour inkjet multifunction printers offering complete print/copy/check/fax functionality, plus Wi-Fi, for about $200 (since April 6, 2011). Although the Epson WorkForce 635 outshines it in speed and ink costs, the Pixma MX882 has more flexible paper handling, as well as a more stylish design.
Canon PIXMA MX882 Review
Canon’s control-panel design ratings significant factors for creativity, but it sacrifices energy for cleverness. The offender is a four-by-four grid of switches with the 3-inch colour LCD and light up or darken inning by function. The lit signs aren’t focused but instead offset to the left. The overall effect is somewhat disturbing; after we used it, the spread out of the switches stayed a little bit unpleasant to use.
The Pixma MX882’s features will easily accommodate a small or office. USB, ethernet, and Wi-Fi connections are standard, together with ports for Memory Stick, SD Card, and XD-Picture Card media, plus a USB/PictBridge port.
Paper handling consists of a 150-sheet bottom-mounted input tray for letter- or legal-size ordinary paper and a back upright feed for thicker media or another 150 sheets of paper. The MFP also has a 35-sheet letter/lawful automated document feeder and a letter/A4 flatbed platen. The Pixma MX882 can print, copy, and check immediately in a duplex (two-sided).
In our speed tests, the Pixma MX882 landed in the midrange or better. Plain-black text and simple monochrome video balanced 7.5 web pages each min on the PC and nearly eight ppm on the Mac. Snapshot-size colour pictures left at three ppm when published on ordinary paper at default setups slowed down to 1.9 ppm at better arrangements on Canon’s picture paper. Checks and duplicates were pretty fast, as well. You can accomplish a lot greater rates in a prepared setting.

The text and monochrome video that the Pixma MX882 creates are excellent-precisely attracted and intensely black in the default setting and nearly laserlike in a top-quality setting. Colour quality is affected by paper kind: Our pictures looked excessively pink or orange and very soft on ordinary paper.
Switching to Canon’s shiny picture paper led to smoother, more all-natural outcomes. Colour checks revealed the same ruddy propensities, but monochrome statements were relatively precise. Monochrome and colour duplicates appeared crisp and relatively smooth also on ordinary paper.
Ink costs for the Pixma MX882 are better compared to average. The pigment black used for text costs $16 and lasts 341 web pages or 4.7 cents for each web page. Cyan, magenta, and yellow each cost $14 and last 500 to 520 web pages, or 2.7 to 2.8 cents each web page.
A four-colour web page would undoubtedly cost 12.9 cents. Canon also offers a dye-based picture black, meant primarily for printing photos; it costs $14 and lasts for 670 4-by-6-inch images, according to the company. The Kodak ESP 9250 has much less expensive inks, but it drops brief in various other respects.
Canon packages its excellent set of energies for both PC and Mac. The devices handle everything from basic scanning to OCR and picture modifying and layout and printing. The configuration routine is simple, requiring minimal user treatment. On the Mac, you can sign up both the printer and the scanner without exploring the System Choices dialogue boxes by hand.
Featurewise, the Canon Pixma MX882 offers all you could request in a small-office all-in-one-as do many various other models in its price range. Choose this Canon MFP if you want versatile paper handling and a bit more design.
